What owners report

  • Owners praise how the slim 9.4-inch body squeezes onto counters where wider automatics simply will not fit
  • Many owners say the pull-out brew group rinses clean under a tap, which keeps upkeep refreshingly simple
  • Long-term owners value the 60 oz front-loading tank, a generous size for such a compact machine
  • Some owners find the manual frother takes real practice before it produces genuine microfoam
  • A common complaint is that milk drinks always take two steps, with no one-touch recipes on board
  • Owners note the plastic-heavy body feels plain beside newer DeLonghi models

DeLonghi Dinamica ECAM35020

What owners report

  • Owners praise the LatteCrema system for turning cappuccinos into a genuine one-touch job
  • Many owners enjoy the dedicated iced coffee setting, which brews over ice without tasting watered down
  • Long-term owners appreciate the 60 oz front-loading tank paired with an adjustable spout for taller glasses
  • Some owners feel the step up in size and price is steep given the brewing core matches the Magnifica line
  • A common complaint is that the milk carafe needs regular cleaning to stay hygienic
  • Owners note the recipe menu stops short of what the Rivelia and Eletta Explore offer

Our recommendation

Buy the Magnifica S if your routine is espresso-first and you will froth milk by hand. Buy the Dinamica if one-touch milk drinks are the daily routine. The espresso in the cup is equivalent; you are buying milk automation. Full verdicts: Magnifica S review, Dinamica review, and the best DeLonghi ranking.

Milk automation

This is the entire comparison. The Dinamica's LatteCrema system textures milk automatically inside one-touch recipes; the Magnifica S has a manual frother and a two-step milk process. If cappuccinos are daily, the Dinamica's premium pays for itself in convenience within weeks.

Brewing hardware

Equivalent where it counts: both use a 13-setting conical burr grinder, 15-bar pump, and 60 oz front-loading tank. Neither pulls a better straight espresso than the other, so black-coffee drinkers should default to the cheaper Magnifica S.

Iced coffee

The Dinamica has a dedicated iced coffee setting; the Magnifica S does not (the newer Magnifica Evo adds one). For summer iced routines this is a real, if secondary, Dinamica advantage.

Size and maintenance

The Magnifica S is the compact one at 9.4 inches wide; the Dinamica needs more counter. Both have removable brew groups and descale alerts, but the Dinamica adds the milk carafe cleaning routine, a daily habit the Magnifica S never asks for.

Choose DeLonghi Magnifica S ECAM22.110.B if…

  • You drink mostly espresso and Americanos with occasional manual milk
  • Counter space is tight and the 9.4-inch width matters
  • You want the lowest price on proven DeLonghi automatic hardware

Choose DeLonghi Dinamica ECAM35020 if…

  • Cappuccinos and lattes are your daily drinks
  • You want milk drinks at one touch with no steaming skill
  • Iced coffee is part of your year-round routine

Questions, answered

Which makes better espresso?

Neither: the grinder, pump, and tank specs are equivalent. The difference is milk automation, not extraction quality.

Is the Dinamica worth the premium?

For milk-drink households, yes, the LatteCrema system transforms the daily routine. For espresso-only drinkers, the premium buys nothing you will taste.

Which is easier to clean?

The Magnifica S: no milk carafe to wash. The Dinamica's auto-clean helps, but the carafe still needs regular disassembly and washing.

What about the Magnifica Evo?

The Evo modernizes the Magnifica S with a color touch display and iced coffee, keeping the manual frother. It narrows the Dinamica's edge on interface and iced coffee but not on milk automation.
